Another Unschooling morning...

I am all for spontaneous teaching moments! Learning comes from those small moments. Even if it's something we've been working on for years I say repetition is the key to remembering something for life!!

I was taking time out this morning to read a book. One of my little ones plops in my lap and wants to "Hold" my book. Of course, reading time is now over! So we sat there and she's turning the pages naming all the large bold letters at the beginning of the paragraphs. Did very well. She's the one who has to think of the sound then figures out the letter but she only had to think about the letters T and E. Now every time she thinks of T she says the word "Tickle" but hey who doesn't need ques from time to time?? E is for cousin Emma. She's been learning motions for the letter sounds as well (which is very amusing!!)

After a bit we went onto the page numbers. Learning place values is tricky for kindergartners and we've been working on it for a long time. For example saying three hundred thirty three instead of 333. She read about twenty pages numbers in different sequences.

My other kindergartner seems to just "get" this stuff so I was glad to work on it one on one with her sister while she was busy creating a picture and labeling it "my prt lef" good sounding out!!

That was my morning (well, about an hour of it). This afternoon is filled with a farm field trip, homemade pizza, and working on Halloween costumes!
